Cai Be - Rach Gia
DAY 1:  CAI BE - PHU  AN - DONG HOA HIEP  - VINH LONG - SA DEC
(Overnight on board “Song Xanh” sampan)

Start at Cai Be Town Pier: 10.00 AM. Welcome on board and fresh towels are served.
Cruise to begin with the visit to Cai Be colorful floating market, cruising among local barges full of fruits and vegetables. Proceed to Phu An, a remote untouched area reflecting some of the best sights in Mekong Delta Region. Stop at local home factories to observe the traditional procedure of making rice ice paste, coconut candies and other specialties.
Lunch at "Le Longanier", a superb Indochinese villa located by the river, in a lush tropical garden surrounded with fruit plantations. Sail away to Sa Dec Town on Tien Giang River, one of the two largest arms of the Mekong. These evergreen islands among the Mekong River bring about large networks of meandering rivers with countless arroyos and remaining unknown to many people. Cruise on a small beautiful canal through water hyacinth plantations, followed by rowing boat for a cruise along a narrow canal passing by a local tiny village and fruit plantation.
Visit further on the banks and visit one of the largest artisanal brick factories. Sa Dec Town appears as little “Venice” in the Mekong Delta with numerous narrow canals, and different kinds of trading activities.
Disembark for a last stop at a beautiful ancient house or “Nha Co” dating from the early 19th century, home of Ong Huynh Thuy Le, former “lover” of famous French novelist Marguerite Duras.
A delicious dinner shall be served on board. Enjoy the first night on Mekong River.

DAY 2:  SADEC – LONG XUYEN – ONG HO ISLAND
(Overnight on board “Song Xanh” sampan)
On-board breakfast at 7.00 AM.
Begins to explore this charming Sa Dec town by walking along its narrow streets and take photos of beautiful old French houses and Chinese temples dating from the last century.
You will also visit the local market and the Trung Vuong primary school where famous French writer Marguerite Duras
(author of "The lover") went to.
Back on board and start cruising along the Mekong River. Lunch shall be served on board while proceeding upstream to Long Xuyen, a peaceful typical provincial  town in the Mekong Delta dotted with an attractive floating market. In the afternoon, excursion to “Ong Ho” island to visit Ton Duc Thang museum, the second president of Vietnam.
A special candlelight dinner will be catered in an unique atmosphere of a local ancient house where you can share experiences with  family  members and learn about traditional southern lifestyle.
Back on board, starts cruising to Rach Gia. Overnight on board.

DAY 3:  LONG XUYEN - RACH GIA

Arrival at Rach Gia, the capital city of Kien Giang province, located on the coast of Gulf of Thailand. The trading goods in
this region are particularly fish, agricultural products and smuggled goods from Cambodia and Thailand.
On-board breakfast at 7.00 AM before the excursion ends (for any guest who has a connecting flight Phu Quoc island at
8.00 AM, breakfast shall be served at 6.00 AM).
In Rach Gia, there are several places of interest including Ha Tien about 100km north-west which has some unusual limestone formations.

Disembark  for a guided visit of the charming and peaceful town, walking  along  its  narrow  streets  where  beautiful
French old houses, Chinese temples and Vietnamese Dinh are dating from the last century.

Visit to the local market, one of the most attractive features in Vietnam.

Back on board to cruise upstream to Long Xuyen, a peaceful provincial town located on the Mekong banks. The cruise passes by several luxuriant islands, countless sampan boats carrying sand, rice, fruits and vegetables, fishes, showing an intense activity on the river.

Approaching Long Xuyen, lunch is served on board.

Quick tour of Long Xuyen typical center before cruising further to “Cu Lao Ong Ho” (The Tiger Island) for a visit at Ton Duc
Thang Museum, second president of Vietnam.

Proceed upstream on the Mekong River  to  Chau  Doc. Optional stops  on  the banks for cycling tours to discover deeper
the inhabitants life style.

Dinner at the Ancient House in the suburbs of Cho Moi.

Back on board in private sampan for your second night on the river.
 
DAY 3:  CHO MOI - CHAU DOC

Early on-board breakfast while cruising to Chau Doc.

Cruise on a little arm of the Mekong where several traditional activities can be observed on the banks (artisanal boat factories, bamboo baskets making, palm leaves cutting, net fishing), as well as old Vietnamese temples dating from late 19th century.

Arrival at Chau Doc late in the morning. Located on the upper Mekong Delta, the town is 280 km south-west of Saigon onto the Cambodian border. With such proximity the local population is an eclectic mix of Cham, Khmer, Chinese and Vietnamese sharing different cultures and historical richness.

Disembark at Chau Doc main city pier 11.00 AM. End of services.

DAY 2:  SA DEC – CAN THO

On-board breakfast at 7.00 AM.
Visit to the local market, one of the most attractive features in Vietnam.

Back on board to cruise down to Can Tho along a beautiful narrow canal, passing under several wooden “monkey bridges”
and  peaceful villages located on the Mekong banks.

Lunch is served on board before pulling a stop to visit Cao Dai temple. A bicycle ride will also be organized to explore the local surroundings.

The last stop before sunset is a splendid ancient house or “Nha Co” dating from the early 19th century. After the personal welcome of owner, a romantic candlelight dinner will be catered in an unique atmosphere.

After dinner, continue to proceed to Can Tho. Overnight on board.

DAY 3:  CAN THO – CAI RANG – CAN THO

The journey starts at 6.00 AM with breakfast being served at 7.00 PM, while approaching Cai Rang floating market, the largest market in the whole Mekong Delta region. Cruise among local barges full of fruits and vegetables to enjoy the hustle and bustle of morning market.

The excursion ends at around 10.00 AM at Ninh Kieu Pier after visiting Can Tho’s local market.
